Sean McMullen's writing voice is as fine as ever, and I definitely enjoyed the tale.

Since Rick Yancey's tale of teen action pretty much takes off from the first word, that's all it took for me to get hooked.

I'll give him points for how it all unravels, but the setup is still fundamentally flawed.

chroeder's Virga saga is one of the best SF stories I've had the pleasure of reading, and takes place in one of the most delightfully strange places I've seen imagined.

There's enough going on to keep interest to the last page and a promising hint of future stories with these characters.

Victory Conditions is a great end (but with room for more) to a series that stands well beside both Bujold's early Miles Vorkosigan novels and Heinlein's Citizen of the Galaxy.
