while At All Costs is still a Weberian novel with clear definite sides, it manages also to be a darkly ambiguous one and that was one of the main reasons I consider it the best novel of the series and a top five sf novel of the 00's.

"Lex Trent Versus The Gods" is unabashedly a romp which strongly depends on our willingness to suspend disbelief and go with the flow while marveling at the combination of familiar and weirdness the author throws in.
